Big Update: "New Moon" Premiere in Knoxville

New Moon Knoxville Premiere Sm

Update 09/15/09: Official details for the "New Moon" premiere in Knoxville have been announced.

TL Daily has received new information regarding the "New Moon" premiere in Knoxville, TN. Here is the email we received from the Knoxville News Sentinal:

It appears that it could be as late as mid-September before the date of the premiere and the list of participating cast members will be released.

There probably will be some 100 to 200 tickets sold to the general public for the screening. (That number could increase if any of the sponsors return tickets to the organizers). They are expecting tens of thousands of fans to vie for these tickets, so it’s a very competitive situation. Although they have sold such tickets for previous premieres at the Pinnacle 18 box office, the demand for "New Moon" tickets has the premiere organizers searching for a more orderly means of distribution. (They want to avoid having thousands of fans camping out at the theater.) Although this is not confirmed, one possible means will be a drawing. In this scenario, fans would be able to register their names at a Knoxville Regal theater (either the Pinnacle 18 or perhaps any Regal theater in town) for about a week, perhaps in October. Regal/Variety would then draw names and sell the public tickets to those fans whose names were drawn.

More details on the distribution will be ironed out and released in August, though it will likely be some time after that announcement before they register names for a drawing and set the process in motion.

The organizers intend to keep the price of the public tickets limited to $100 or less per ticket.

Those who have been supporters of Variety over the years will have the option to buy some 400 additional tickets, and another 800 tickets will be available to sponsors. In all probability, those who have sponsored previous premieres will get first crack on sponsorship packages. For information on obtaining a sponsorship package, call Variety at 865-925-9906.

Meanwhile, we will update information as we get it on www.knoxville.com and in the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Is this good or bad news? Will you be more or less likely to vie for tickets?

actually what they could do id have a 7:00 o'clockl show for once group get the satrs out and the have another show right aftewards adn have another red carpet enterence (sp?). It would make a lot more people happy and it would bring in more money in the long run, and people wont get hurt. Right now people are going to get hurt if they don't get the info out to people. And also they should put tickets out there for everyone to buy and just set a limit on how mnay you can buy. Many benefit things do that. I knw the more i dnt knw about the event, the more upset I am that they told us a few months back! :)

I live about 45 mins from Knoxville and am very excited about this. I just called the Variety hotline and as of Aug 31st they said that tomorrow on WIVK radio station they will have a New Moon update, for those of you in this area. They are not sure on the date yet, but are going for November 14-18. And are trying to get 1-2 stars from the movie to come. So thats all I know for now. But I really hope its not a big long drawn out problem to get tickets, because my friends and I planned on going.

well i am listening to wivk this morning if you donate 200 and some odd dollars you can qualify to registar for tickets. i know this is a great charity and i would make as much money as i could for the kids if i was in charge too. but wow 200 dollars just to enter. i wouldn't mind paying a dollar or even five to be put in the drawing you know they would make a bunch that way too. i think that would be fair, kinda like a buy a ticket and get a chance to win. i think that would be a fair thing to do and look at all the money they could make that way. think about it, what do yo guys think? are tickets just going to end up as a dream for most of us? i had planned on paying 100 bucks for a ticket, that i could do but 100 plus 200 for a chance . wow i know it is a great charity, trust me i have read all about variety and all the money stays local and they only have one paid position, the rest is volunteer. so for those you can afford to give please do so! but i can't afford 200 to get into the drawing, i would like to give something and most likely will just hoping for at least a name in the hat so to speak. am i being greedy? or awful? kinda makes me feel bad that i am thinking of tickets to new moon and not the kids, does that make me a bad person?*L*by the way no update on the new moon hotline.

wow! $2oo, just to enter? thats alot. i know i couldnt pay that AND the money for the ticket itself. and yeah i get that the entry money is for the kids-but thats still alot. and i know first hand how important this charity is, cause when my little brother was in 5th grade he got really sick and was admitted to childrens hospital. they were super nice and they really deserve to get alot of money from this charity because of everything they do, and lets face it, the technology and stuff they use and need is EXPENSIVE! i dont think its greedy to say 'hey, moneys tight and i cant afford the entry and the ticket together...if i win the luck of the draw' so im sticking with the slim possibility that i might be able to get a ticket straight from the theater. not holding my hopes too high, but still falling pretty close.

WannaCullen- I don't think you're being greedy AT ALL!! I'd pay $200 for a ticket- but I just don't have the money to throw away on a CHANCE to get a ticket!! There are a 1000 different ways to raise money for these children. Someone needs to consider the Fans, too. Besides, not saying Variety would do this- but I have worked at and know of too many places that pick and choose their winners. I'm not wasting my money in hopes I get lucky, when I know how often things are rigged.

At this point, I'm BEYOND over it. I don't really care anymore. I just want to see the darn movie already. God forbid, the Knoxville fans should enjoy seeing some of the cast. Woulda been nice. All this, and they probably will only have 1 cast member and it won't even be one of the top 10. lol

PS. Maybe we can get a group together and stalk the airport that day- lol.

Hey I'm in lol. Lets go on strike. lmao.

FYI: I just heard on the Variety info line that they will be announcing a confirmed date, celeb info and ticket info sometime between 9/11 and 9/15. Mark your calendar!!

This is truly a once in a lifetime event for those of us in and around Knoxville. I wonder if it will be a black tie event? How fun would THAT be? I plan on keeping my eye on local radio stations and businesses who may have gotten sponsorship packages. Maybe I'll get tickets that way. In any case, I'm stalking Fandango for when they presell tickets for the Nov. 20th release at the regular theaters because after all, it's all about the movie!! :)

cell_baby: bad thing is even if you donated the 200 bucks it only entered you in the drawing. i am kinda becoming like you i am over it to a degree. i just wanna see the movie! and well hadn't thought about it but the airport stalking sounds good!*L* maybe just stalking out the back of the movie theater would be good to. guess we could go and see what we could see. i suppose they will have a "got tickets" section and the get the hell out of the way you are taking up space section*L* well getting tickets at this point seems impossible. so i like many other are just kinda sick about it and giving up on it. i hope variety makes a lot of money for their charity honestly they are a good charity... but geezes they shouldn't have got everyone's hope up that live here close or in knoxville about tickets just to crush them.....200 tickets 2 each only 100 people. better luck with some of the scratch off lottery tickets*L*

oh they are sellin tickets on fandango for the regular night. Midnight showing in cookeville and hixson. I got mine last week.

This is a huge event for Knoxville. The fact that its centered around a charity is even better. I'm a fan of Twilight, but I'm concerned with the distribution of the tickets. Currently being unemployeed, and my boyfriend offering to buy my ticket is helpful, but basically throwing a name in a box and allowing the other tickets to sponsers worry me!

I don't mind if people from other states get a chance for tickets, but people from Tennessee should get first dibs. Even an oppurtunity to know when they will be available! Mind you, I don't think people should say this site is giving false information, but throw us a bone! E-mail me if you get anymore information on this. It'd be a great help. =D

Variety hotline will announce tickets and such on sept. 15

I just bought tickets for the regular premiere since it's obvious that the "early" premiere is going to be a complete and total rip off.

i am not sure it is a rip off, but tickets are going to be impossible to get unless you are a huge donater to variety. it is a good charity but i don't think they were prepared for new moon. and now people are upset about tickets, me included, i feel like tickets are impossible to get. so it kinda leaves evryone at a "what now?" place. what are we going to have to do to get tickets. and are they prepared for all the people who are going to go that don't have tickets (maybe me in that bunch)

I know in the past at other Knoxville premieres they have escorted the celebs through the back and no one without the tickets even saw them. So if that is the case with the New Moon movie their will be a lot of dissappointed fans standing at the entrance of the theater.

well i hope all works out well, but i have given up all hopes on tickets at this point. *sigh* i hope the charity does well and i hope the stars have a good time in knoxville. they will be annoucing tommorow what stars will be there and how to get tickets. i supect it will be impossible unless you are a very luck person, which i'm not*L*

Here ya go: What we've been waiting for:

Two of Hollywood's brightest new stars are coming to Knoxville to debut one of the biggest movies of the year.

Regal Entertainment Group announced on Monday that actors Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will attend the Tennessee Benefit Screening of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon".

The premiere will be held at Regal Cinemas Pinnacle Stadium 18 in Turkey Creek on Tuesday, Nov. 17, three days before the movie opens in theaters. Proceeds from the advance screening will benefit Variety- The Children's Charity of Eastern Tennessee.

A limited number of tickets will be available to the public. A drawing will be held for the opportunity to buy two general admission tickets for $100 each. Registration for the drawing is scheduled from Oct. 9-11 during regular business hours at Regal Cinemas in Knoxville. No purchase is necessary to sign up. However, contestants must be 18 or older, and only one entry per person will be accepted. Complete rules for the drawing will be available at participating theatres.

Winners will be chosen by Nov. 3 and notified by phone. Tickets cannot be resold. At the time of purchase, both guest names will be registered. For entry to the event, valid identification must be shown.

Benefit screening guests will enjoy a catered reception at the Pinnacle. The reception will be held before Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner greet the crowd. After the red carpet reception, attendees will have the honor of being some of the first moviegoers to view "New Moon".

The movie is the second installment in the Twilight saga. It's based on Stephenie Meyers' hugely popular book series about the love story between a vampire and teenage girl.

Stewart plays Bella Swan who is devastated by the departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). However, she is rekindled by her growing friendship with Jacob Black, played by Lautner.

The movie will be released on Nov. 20 in theatres nationwide.

So, who's going to bid?????????????????

well my luck sucks so i don't see winning anything*L* but how many tickets will be to the public?

Where did you find this out at? I been calling the info line about it and they haven't updated it yet.

I'm sorry- it is posted at wbir.com.

the hot line has been updated not and all that was listed above is not on there so glad to know you can only registar one time that helps a little to make it more fair . some people would fill out entries for days *L* but as i have said before i might have red hair but the luck of the irish has skippped a generation for me*L*

I'm upset that soo many people want to go to this and it would be impossible to get a stones throw distance any where near Talyor. I think there too many Twilight fans that ruin it for the Taylor fans that hae casused him to be incognito for the rest of his life. Then again I'm just rambling.

i "heard" it is just one entry per person to the knoxville premier per person. so how are they going to do that??? i want to enter but i don't want to go, stand in line to registar, get behind someone that has somehow just managed to fill out an entire entry form book. so if anyone knows how that is going to work let me know!!! i really want to at least registar but how fair is it going to be? really....how can they do it?

I understand that everything will be tied to your name. You can only register YOUR name one time. They check ID and everything. They can get real strict about things like that anyways- even just trying to get Student Discount tickets for regular movies. IF you win- you have to register your name on the ticket- AND the name on the 2nd ticket. And when you go to the premiere, you will have to show ID that you are the person on that ticket.

I think this is good. I still don't think there's any chance that regular people will get tickets legitimately, but at least Regal or whoever is trying to stop all the crazies from uber-registering and getting all the passes and selling them on ebay. I hope some decent people get the tickets- but I bet the winners are still hand-picked.

well at least maybe they will do the id thing i guess they would have to. but i guess you are right, sad to think it. but most likely they will be "hand pciked" winners. and i like you, hope some of the people that get those tickets at least get them legit are just regular people that registared, but again hard to keep it fair. i am not sure i am even going to bother are you? i will have to drive almost 2 hours just to be entered, and i just wonder how fair the drawing is going to be. i know it is a charity and they will do the best they can, but.... we all know how that goes. so wish me luck i am going try and get tickets, we will see how it goes. :)

Good luck. I would go just to try and find out what hotel he's staying at.

Yes, that was another idea I had. It's not like there are alot of choices in Knoxville. I don't see KStew as a Motel 8 kinda gal. lol
