Why I Left The Theater During "New Moon" at Midnight
Were you one of the thousands of "Twilight" fans who stood in line for hours to watch "New Moon" at midnight on November 20? I was one of those fans, and it was madness I tell you!!! While waiting in line, I started to second guess my decision to skip the early "New Moon" screening at the Knoxville premiere! What was I thinking?
The line for the 12:01 am showing was already forming at 7:30 pm. Luckily a TL Daily reader was already in line at the theater, and she graciously allowed me and my girlfriend to join her. (Thanks, G!)
Once we were finally seated, 12:01 am came and went. Our movie did not start until 20 minutes later... Then the worst thing ever happened! Some jerk pulled the fire alarm during the scene with the Volturi, and we had to leave the theater!!! WTF! We eventually were allowed to file back in, but they couldn't rewind the movie so we missed part of it. OMFG! I didn't leave the theater until 3 am.
TL Daily Review of "New Moon" (No spoilers)
One word. Awesome! I loved it. As I've said before, Taylor Lautner has the body of a Greek God and you will see plenty of it in "New Moon." He did a great job, and he makes you feel for Jacob's character.
"New Moon" hits and misses
- I wish they developed the relationship between Bella and Jacob more.
- Taylor Lautner is really HOT
- I think Robert Pattinson's abs were enhanced or sprayed-on (Sorry, Edward fans). Taylor's abs puts Rob's to shame.
- The break-up scene with Edward and Bella gave me chills
- The Volturi fight scene - amazing
- I didn't like the ending

I agree about the bella jake relationship, it was so weak compared to the book.
One of my fav quotes of the film involved the word 'marshmellow'.
I thought there was still quite a bit missed out but the wolves were awesome :D
And there were to many clothes worn! Lol. Like why was he fully clothed?
The end was genius but on the same time really cruel! But I loved it :D The whole movie was great and I think I have to start counting down to Eclipse now.
And you can't not love Taylor!<3 <3 <3 *abs*
omg me either i hated the ending but the movie was amazing i cant beleive you had to leave that totally sucks my screening was awsome (=
We were at the 10:00pm viewing in Nova Scotia last night. The ticket sales were sold out well in advance and people started lining up at 6:00pm for a 10:00pm movie that they already had tickets for. Wow!
I was also a little disappointed with the representation of Jacob/Bella's friendship. But the worst thing I have to say about the movie is it was TOO SHORT! 2 hours 10 mins went by in a flash. I would have like to see more of the Wolf Pack too. CGI Wolves were fantanstic.
Loved it and going again tomorrow - can't wait.
Omg! I would have been pissed off!!! I probably would have demanded my money back too...I'm the type of person that doesn't even like to miss the previews let alone ANY of the movie.lol
I love your review.
Acting = awesome
Taylor = AMAZING
Colors, cinematography, music, and costumes = awesome
Screenplay = Blah
I walked away thinking Team Edwards would love it and Team Jacobs might feel a little cheated.
I needed more wolf / Jacob time.
OMG, I can't believe you had to leave the theatre!
Anywayz, I thought this movie was done better than Twilight, actually.
The wolves were UNREAL...they were SOOOO good. I love the wolf fight between Jared (P.S. Alex Meraz is the HOTTEST werewolf next to Taylor) and Jacob. It was AWESOME. The vampire fight sequence was also awesome (another P.S. Daniel Cudmore who plays Felix is actually hot...watch Xmen 2...he plays Colossus...dreamy).
And of COURSE, to state the obvious, Taylor's body....Holy Hell....unreal. His acting was also really awesome! It was believable and natural. Props!
Anyway, so in a lot of film adaptations a lot of relationships are underdeveloped, and you don't learn enough about some characters or some situations. I definitely agree that Jacob and Bella's relationship was not as intense as it should have been, the way it was in the book. I understand it's hard to do in a short period of time in the movie, but just...FAIL, haha. It was like they barely got to know each other and next thing you know it's "Sorry Bella we can't be friends"...it just seemed like they hadn't spent enough time together, whereas in the book we know they spend like ALL their time together, I don't know.Also, I thought that we didn't get to learn enough about the Volturi. There were there for like a hot second.
Lastly, the writing at some points was just plain awkward, and kind of bad. Especially for Bella. Like it made a lot of K-Stew's acting seem really flat. I don't know...
So now that this is sufficiently TOO long, just wanted to say:
Despite shortcomings, I'm seeing this again on Monday, and I can't WAIT for Eclipse next year!
Actually comes out June 30th 2010
Oh, I am sooo jealous!
I'll have to wait till sunday here in Austria!
On sunday there is a double feature in some bigger cinemas. At 12:00 they start with Twilight, short pause and then New Moon!
I am sooo ecited to see Taylor in New Moon!
Best wishes
it was crazy at our theatre last night, or this morning lol They had to open three movie rooms b/c of the demand of New Moon fans! The line for the midnight showing started at 7! and I got there at 9 and it was packed with screaming twilight fans! I was like OMG!!! So I waited 3hrs in line, but luckily my friends and I had our ipods and we listen to music and danced! lol
But when the movie started and Edward came on the screen everyone started screaming, but when Jacob came on screen I think I was the only one who yelled "yea big daddy!" lol i was so embarrassed : / hahaha
But the movie was awesome! The best movie of 09-10! Well at least I think so : )
Team Jacob all the way!!!!!! <3
"yea big daddy" LMAO!
There wasn't much screaming in my theater at all. It was quite civilized actually, and I was expecting way more screaming throughout the movie. Really weird!
Just got back from seeing New Moon with my mom. I'm Team Jacob, she's Team Edward.lol To show my appreciation for Team Jacob I ran out and bought a black bracelet with white letters that read "I run with wolves"
We went to the last showing which was at 10:50pm and got there at 10:00pm hoping to get a good seat and not thinking that there would be a long line that late...dead wrong! When we got there we found that the line was so long that it was going outside! So, I happened to see at the ticket line that there was another showing that they didn't post online (11:15pm). We exchange our tickets and go to a different line and this time we are the first ones there! I can't tell you how excited I was to know that I would get a decent seat and that in just an hour I would get to see Taylor Lautner on the big screen! Time goes by really slowly and finally around 10:40 the lady takes our tickets and tells us we can go in.
Finally we see the movie and I gotta say it followed the book nicely. I was a little uncertain about the wolf pack in the pictures but once I saw them on screen they fit the part perfectly! I wish that it had been a tad bit longer cause I'm sure us loyal fans would have sat through the movie no matter how long it was :D
I'm glad that I got to see it the first day it came out, I'm already anticipating Eclipse and I can't wait to see New Moon again!!
