Taylor Lautner Has A New Quest

Taylor Lautner is going to be a busy man in 2010! He has yet another potential project to add to his resume—Vision Quest. He is in talks to star in an updated version of this 1985 drama. According to E! News,
[Taylor] could wind up playing an updated version of [Matthew] Modine's character in the still-in-development film, which counts Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill Entertainment (and Twilight and New Moon fame) as producers. We hear that Richard Munic has penned a screenplay that is "very faithful" to the original Vision Quest.
"Taylor saw [the script] and is really excited about it," says a source. "It's very much in line with his athleticism. His character is someone who's striving for greatness."
Taylor is currently in contract negotiations with Summit Entertainment to reprise his role as Jacob Black in "Breaking Dawn," the fourth book in the Twilight Saga. He is also confirmed to portray teenage superhero Max Steel in an upcoming Paramount production and star in "Cancun," an action flick about vacationers held hostage by a drug cartel.
Thanks, G!

Wow, I bet he's gonna be everywhere next year! He'll probably work out more for the fourth Twilight movie! ^_^
jeez. he just doesn't quit.
Breaking Dawn is supposed to start production in June 2010!
Wow this guys gonna end up being the next Brad Pitt I can feel it in my bones! How exciting for his future.
I definitely have strong feelings about this...
I LOVE the original Vision Quest and don't think it needs to be remade.I don't get the whole 'it was a success once before so let's remake it' vibe that seems to be in Hollywood right now. Take "Footloose" or "Fame"; both classic movies that stand the test of time-their themes still relevant and have or will be remade. Most remade movies fail at the box office and never achieve the commercial success of the original. I'd go so far as to say that remakes take away the bit of magic that the original movie brought to the big screen.
IF IT AIN'T BROKE WHY FIX IT!
I really wish that studios would put their energy into developing new ideas rather than riding on the coattails of previous successes.
I'd rather see Taylor in roles HE originates rather than roles that have previously been established by other actors. Why step out from the shadows of another actor rather than walking into the sun on your own?
Yeah good point. It's like Walmart redoing there store layout every year or so. Was there a problem with where I was finding the peanut butter before, you had to move it on me?
True say. Taylor needs to establish a strong career before taking such risks like re-creating such a good movie.
i'm so happy for taylor.. he truly deserves all the fame and accolades he's been getting.. as well as the new projects.. woohooo! he's the man in 2010..
Excuse Me! But Vision Quest (1985) was NOT a good movie to me. It was more like a guy movie with a short lived love story with a older chit. But now that Taylor may be the lead actor it just got interesting enough for me to want to see it again. This time with a better looking Matthew Modine.
What's wrong with a guy movie? and for that matter Matthew Modine? I thought Vision Quest was really a great movie.
How many movies do you know of that focus on:
1. High School wrestling- nope, not the stuff that has the word RAW after it,
2. setting an almost physically impossible goal by torturing yourself to make a lower weight so you can challenge and compete with the All State Champion in his weight class on the mat,
3. addressing the subject of losing your (male) virginity (while at the same time not being subjected to gratuitous viewing of female nudity on screen).
4. what it's like to be a guy trying to achieve a goal when just about everyone thinks you are crazy to attempt in the first place except the "older chit" who's telling you not to give up on your dream and throw it away and wonder "what if" for the rest of your life.
I will end my vigorous defense(and rant)by asking:
5. If the movie was SO BAD then WHY was Taylor drawn to it? Could it be that Taylor had a "Vision Quest" of his own? It's not like he ever had to fight for something that everyone thought he was crazy to go after or for that matter attempt a physical transformation on such a huge scale....*ahem*cough*cough*
;) Watch it again
Wow! arazcal That was really really very deep..and first of all I never had or will have a problem with Taylor Lautner playing a part in the movie. Matter of fact he's the only reason I would go see it. So I don't know where no:5 point was coming from but over all the movie still sucked. And Why I don't like guy movies. Well, I think your a child so am going to be nice. huh, duh......am not a guy and I hate sports. That may have a tiny bit to do with why I didn't like the movie. arazcal I do hope that you where born before orginal movie was made. 1985 was a long time ago to feel so strongly about a movie. My one opinion shouldn't matter.
Wow... What a shame. My only "goal" was to show you why I liked the movie. Instead I received insults...As for insulting my age-I probably have shoes older than you.
When a mind is closed thoughts die slowly.
OMG! That's Vision Quest? I must have blocked out ever remember seeing this movie. I think it's the title it says nothing about wrestling to me. Do you think he'll get groped by the guy in the hotel room like the original? lol
This will be perfect for him. Because I don't think he is totally happy working so hard to maintain his current weight. I found it strange in the movie Matt's character had to loose weight to Wrestle Shoop or whatever his name was when it looked like he had 20 pounds on him. And really how much could a pair of tighty Wighties weigh? But I won't sweat the details I saw this thing like 10 years ago. It's a cult classic. Robert Downey Jr. played his best friend. Homosexual undertones aside I'm actually excited about this now.
Nope. No hotel 'man on man' groping. and nope again, not Robert Downey Junior- maybe you are thinking of Weird Science- it's the guy from 16 candles(the love interest)Michael..I can't remember the last name- you know... my memory meds. haven't kicked in yet.
Ahh you might be right, you know what got me confused? Michael Schoeffling has a mohawk in this movie right? Kind of punk, Robert Downey Junior plays the same type a character in "Back To School" And "Weird Science" with a faux mo, "The Pick Up Artist" He didn't change his look that much, and there is also a baldy in "Some Kind of Wonderful" (love it) Mary Stuart Masterson <3 Crush>, Ok I'm getting side tracked. These must be the John Hughes marque characters influence you see in the movies of that time they all look alike. Anyway, why do you say no to the Man on Man grope? Do you have the Screen play already? How could they leave out something so significant?
LOL-There was never a 'groping scene' in this film-Watch it.., your freak is showing ;)
Unless you count the wrestling practice scenes or the final showdown *duhn*duhn*daaa* with Shoot as 'man on man'..*chuckling to self*big loud snort**
Nope,I have no idea what's gonna make it into the remake featuring Taylor.
Just think, Spandex wrestling uniforms-
Spanx for Men...
As for Mr.Downey Jr. he's come a long way since those 1st films-he always played a snarky, unlikeable wise a**- amazing what a drug free lifestyle can do for a career. BTW, Paduan, you seem well versed in 80's teen films especially those by J.Hughes. Nice choice with Some Kind of Wonderful Eric Stoltz and M.S.Masterson=chemistry, Pick up Artist=awful, Back to School=Rodney was a giant among men, Weird Science didn't age well. Now 16 Candles, The Breakfast Club or how about Ferris Buehler's Day Off are like a totally like different subject. Like O.M.G!
I'm pretty sure on this one, it happened in the beginning. Matt was a delivery boy or something maybe even working for the hotel and he saw this dude doing slow rhythmic Kung Fu of some sort in his room. And he questioned him about it, And the guy offered to show him some stances directing him from behind and the next thing you know, Hello! And then he got out of there as fast as fast could run. Did a few push ups at the end of the hallway to confirm his man hood. And that was that. And then he confessed what happened to his best friend about "Some guy trying to grab his junk. And to tell you the truth he actually did". If that aint the same movie what the hell was I watching?
And I'm a hugh John Hughes fan. My favorite movie of all time is Plains Trains and Automobiles. But I love all those 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club recycled actor movies. And the songs from the movie!!!
Not that I care to prove you wrong I just needed piece of mind, because I know what I saw. So of course I had to go research the occasionally accurate Youtube. I'd like to admit exhibit 1 into the court.

Okay, when I'm wrong I'm wrong. You, Mr.Prosecutor have proven your case and I stand corrected! The Defense rests and withdraws its complaint. I have been wrestled into submission and now scream 'Uncle'
Not being a guy- I guess I just never keyed into that scene. Can ya blame me?! As for your choice of movies i knew there was a reason I liked you besides your snark and sarcasm! Have a Merry ______(whatever you celebrate) and here's to an amazing New Year 2010!
Planes Trains and Automobiles John Candy (God rest his soul) and Steve Martin, "that's not a pillow!" classic ;)
